Flashback Friday: Blueboy – Remember me

Written by on June 12, 2015

Remember this classic club anthem from 1997.

Scottish DJ Alexis ‘Lex’ Blackmore, AKA Blueboy gave us a massive club anthem with ‘Remember Me’. Reaching top 10 on the UK singles chart and number 2 on the US dance charts this was one of the years big crossover tracks.

The track is built around two samples from the 1973 live version of “Woman of the Ghetto”, a 1969 soul song by Marlena Shaw, originally recorded for her album The Spice of Life.

“Remember me? I’m the one who had your babies”, in reference to African-American maids raising white children for little pay. The sample repeated throughout is the scat portion of the refrain.

Crank this up and take yourself back to the mid 90s and enjoy your Friday.
