Hot tropical house remake of 90s hit tops Aus dance charts
The Aussie summer is in full swing and Jonas Blue is all over the radio and charts down under. Fast Car is proving to be one of the anthems of season down under.
Up and coming London producer Jonas Blue has teamed up with young vocal talent, Dakota Blue to reimagine Tracy Chatman’s 1988 classic ‘Fast Car’. The original track’s lilting guitar has been transformed into an upbeat tropical house sound that is very now.
21 year old Jonas says he always wanted to recreate Fast Car. He remembers it being one of his mother’s favourite songs that she used to play constantly when he was a child.
While crafting the music seemed to came naturally, Jonas found it difficult to find a vocal talent with the richness and depth that made the original so special. Jonas heard Dakota singing in an East London pub. As soon as he heard her bluesy voice he knew he had found the singer to bring his version of Fast Car to life.
21 year old Jonas Blue has been busy perfecting his craft as a producer, spending time collaborating in studios in L.A, Stockholm and London. Blue takes his musical cues from pop and classic dance music, as well as from the Tropical House sounds of producers such as Felix Jaehn, Lost Frequencies and Kygo.
We’ve been playing Fast Car for more than a month now on Massive and we always get plently on love everytime we give it a spin. Just before Christmas it reached the top of the Australian dance charts. It’s now racing up most of the European charts including the UK where it’s just outside the top 20.
